Sawley Table Tennis Club
The club meets on Monday evenings at 7.30pm
in the village hall.
We have two tables, some spare bats and lots of enthusiasm. We are very
welcoming to new members of all abilities, young and old, as well as
occasional visitors. Our games are fast, not too furious, but a lot of
fun.
Sawley in Bloom
The Sawley in Bloom Group regularly enters the
village in the Yorkshire in Bloom
Competition. Recently we have consistently done well because nearly
everyone in the village takes pride in our community and cares for
lovely and very interesting gardens.
Last year we won the small village category for the whole of
Yorkshire. Not only do we ensure the flowering beds and tubs
look great, we also run two nature reserves.
One is the Wildlife Garden in the heart of the village by the
village green, the other is Picking Gill, an ancient quarry area in the
ownership of the Parish council.
We are also part of the Yorkshire Dales Verges Project
encouraging a diversity of wildflowers and subsequent wildlife.
