Sawley Table Tennis Club The club meets on Monday evenings at 7.30pm in the village hall. We have two tables, some spare bats and lots of enthusiasm. We are very welcoming to new members of all abilities, young and old, as well as occasional visitors. Our games are fast, not too furious, but a lot of fun.
Sawley in Bloom  For the last two years we have been category winners as small village in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition, so we have decided to give another village a chance and are taking a break from the competition this year. But this does not mean that we are neglecting our floral responsibilities in the village. Oh no! Tubs are being entrusted to individuals and our local experts are being encouraged to help with the three pairs of hanging baskets to their own design and style.  This should lead to greater variety and an enrichment of the decoration of our lovely village.  We shall still have planting days and tidying days and the verge project and nature reserve maintenance continues as before. Sawley Arts Group Membership is free of charge and open to people who live in Sawley and the wider area-interest and enthusiasm is more important than location.  The group is led by a committee that organises some events but the aim is to be a self-propelling interest group where members volunteer to organise things that they would like to do or share, helped by the committee. The programme of events so far has been varied: singing for pleasure; crafts; illustrated talks; art exhibitions; quilt and fabric work, workshops on welding, clay work and a big Diamond Jubilee Project now hanging in the village hall. Contact Short Mat Bowls Play indoor bowls every Tuesday evening 7.30 - 9.30pm for two games and every Wednesday afternoon for three games.  Each session costs £2 including tea and biscuits. Each year we compete for the Norman Nichol Memorial Cup.  The village hall committee purchased the trophy in memory of Norman who had a long association with the village hall and started the bowls club. Anyone who is interested in joining is invited to call in on any of the sessions. The yoga club meetings on Tuesday mornings during school term-time from 10.00 am till 11.15 am.  We are a very friendly group who enjoy getting together to improve our well-being by practising yoga.  The content of our sessions varies from week to week but always includes postures to improve flexibility, strength, balance, concentration, breathing and relaxation.  We always enjoy ourselves and use laughter to help muscles relax and ease tension.  Yoga is good for everyone and it doesn’t take long before you notice the benefits.  Newcomers welcome.  If you'd like to come along and join in the fun please contact Georgie on 07652740309 or email
